Below is a compilation of all the resources we’ve created so far to serve the community and support local businesses during the COVID19 pandemic. If you have recommendations for other resources we can share, please contact us.
Our Favorite Podcasts – Our ambassadors and members of the Let’s Detroit team shared our favorite podcasts to listen to while we’re sheltering in place.
Virtual Fitness and Yoga – a list of local fitness studios, yoga studios, and group classes that are offering online sessions that you can take from home.
Virtual Museum and Cultural Experiences – Keep learning and exploring with the variety of virtual tours, lessons, artist chats, performances and downloadable content available on their websites, YouTube channels and social media.
Huron-Clinton Metroparks – the Metroparks are still open under the stay home, stay safe order. Enjoy the outdoors while maintaining a safe distance from other park visitors.
Bike Shops in Metro Detroit – cycling has become a popular way to get exercise and get out of the house during quarantine, visit one of these bike shops to make sure you’re ready to ride this Bike Month!
Best spots for a nature lover – Noah shared a list of his favorite outdoor spaces in the region, if you’re looking for places to get some exercise or enjoy nature.
Photography in Quarantine – our Campus Ambassador Dallas McGhee-Henry shared about some of the ways he is staying engaged as a photographer during quarantine.
Takeout Restaurants – a list of restaurants around the region that you can support by ordering takeout or delivery.
Ann Arbor Area Restaurants – a list of restaurants in the Ann Arbor area, we’ll be creating different lists for different parts of the region.
Royal Oak and Ferndale Area Restaurants – a list of restaurants in Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Birmingham compiled by our team and our ambassadors.
Local Businesses – local businesses that are based in the region to support by buying their products or ordering a gift card.
Minority Owned Businesses – the ‘Pay it Forward’ campaign raised over $50,000 dollars for minority-owned restaurants in the city of Detroit to prepare meals for the city’s at risk population.
Detroit Area Breweries – here is a list of Breweries based in the region that are offering pickup, carry-out, and delivery services.
Beyond Juicery – many businesses have had to adapt their offering to the current circumstances, read about some of the new options at Beyond Juicery Detroit.
Celebrating Cinco de Mayo – the parade may have been cancelled this year, but here are a few ways to celebrate Mexican culture and community in Detroit this year.
Making an Impact – Several of our ambassadors offered ways to offer community support at this time, from making masks to time banking.
Student Journalism – our Campus Ambassador and recent journalism graduate Katie Laduke wrote a piece about her experience as a student journalist covering the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
Community Resources and Self Care – Our ambassador Lauren Bealore wrote a blog post on how the non-profit and business community are offering important resources at this time, as well as how she is practicing self care.
Business and Funding Resources – Chris Copacia of Detroit Experience Factory shared a collection of business resources, fundraisers, and funding sources that can be helpful to local businesses.
Youth Homelessness – a recap and recording of our discussion with Courtney Smith of Detroit Phoenix Center, and Andrew Morton of Sofa Stories Detroit on youth homelessness in Detroit.
Posters for Forgotten Harvest – the Detroit Design Guild designed beautiful posters related to different Covid-19 topics and is selling them to benefit Forgotten Harvest.
