Livonia is a family-focused suburban community with great neighborhoods, restaurants, parks, and youth sports options.
With big-city amenities and less than a 30-minute ride to Detroit, the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, the Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus, and Ann Arbor, Livonia is a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere with good schools and public services.
In 2021, the city was ranked #42 out of 337 of the best suburbs in Michigan to live in as a young professional. This is no surprise as Liviona is in the middle of western Wayne County’s logistics hub with a collection of office, industrial, research, and manufacturing operations that are closely surrounded by the headquarters of the Big Three automobile manufacturers, downtown Detroit’s major companies, two of Michigan’s great research universities and several community colleges, North America’s busiest international border crossing, and a major airport.
For families, Livonia offers walkable and friendly neighborhoods with pleasant streets to bike or stroll. For others, there are many high-quality apartments and condos that put residents within walking or biking range from almost anything in the city. In total, Livonia has 1,400 acres of parks and nature areas including three golf courses, walking and bike paths, a new dog park, and a state-of-the-art Recreation Center. Livonia is also home to some of Michigan’s largest youth sports organizations for hockey, soccer, and football. The annual Livonia Spree, a summer festival, also attracts more than 100,000 people for a communitywide celebration capped off by one of metro Detroit’s largest fireworks displays.
Livonia’s nightlife includes newly renovated restaurants, brewpubs, and bars with great food (see: Bahama Breeze) and fun venues for watching sports or seeing live music. Livonia also has live theater, music venues, and movie theaters, and is just a short drive to Detroit’s major sports stadiums, casinos, fine dining, and riverfront.
