We’re starting to feel lucky because St. Patrick’s Day is THIS Sunday, March 17th and there are countless events around the city to celebrate. Whether you’re looking for something low-key to do with your besties or hoping for a memorable night out, here is a roundup of several St. Paddy’s Day happenings around Detroit that will hold a fortune of fun.

So don your favorite green attire and experience the luck of the Irish with these weekend events around the city:

1. Check Out Local Bar Crawls

Of course, it wouldn’t be St. Paddy’s Day without some classic bar crawls. Here are a few happening around the city:

2. Get a Treat at JoJo’s Shake Bar

If beer isn’t really your thing, treat yourself to a signature, over-the-top treat at JoJo’s Shake Bar. Known for its creative desserts and drinks, this Downtown Detroit hotspot has a specialty St. Patrick’s Day menu, including an extravagant mint-flavored “Get Lucky Shake,” a decadent “Lucky Charms Hot Chocolate,” and a celebratory “Shamrock Margarita Tree.”

3. Catch the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Royal Oak

If you missed the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Corktown last weekend, you still get a chance to celebrate the area’s Irish heritage and see some fun floats at the Royal Oak St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 16th.

4. Capture Your Furry Friend With St. Patrick’s Themed Pet Portraits

5. Celebrate at the Detroit Shamrock Festival 

Go all out with Downtown Detroit’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day party, the Detroit Shamrock Festival on Saturday, March 16th. Doors open at noon for this heated tent and outdoor party featuring food trucks, live entertainment, beer, whiskey, and so much more.

6. Visit a Bar or Brewery

You can’t go wrong with one of these local bars and breweries this weekend. Grab a green beer or your favorite Irish whiskey at one of these favorites:

  • Eastern Market Brewing: Don’t miss their special brew, Story Horse, a dry Irish stout that’s perfect for St. Paddy’s.
  • Urbanrest Brewing Co: Enjoy some Irish food, beer, wine, cider, and kombucha from 12-7 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th.
  • Detroit City Distillery: Kick off the weekend on Friday, March 15th from 5-7 p.m. with corned beef sandwiches, “Horse-Back Shots,” Irish coffee, and a green “Me-So Irish Paloma.”
  • Paddy’s Hideway Bar at Bandit Tavern: Experience the spirit of the holiday with this festive pop-up bar experience at Bandit Tavern in Royal Oak.
