Let’s Detroit is a program that connects young professionals to careers, places to live, things to do, ways to volunteer, and each other with the goal of increasing the number of college graduates that build their careers in the Detroit Region. One way the program thrives is by engaging ambassadors, including college students.

The program is currently seeking members for its Spring 2024 paid cohort. 

Read on for the top five reasons why you should apply to be a 2024 Let’s Detroit Campus Influencer.

Reason #1: Make Money 

In need of extra income? Between tuition, housing, paying for college books, dinners out with friends, and fun experiences and trips, being a college student is expensive. Let’s Detroit Campus Influencers are paid $599 for one semester of work, with only one to two hours expected per week. Who doesn’t love a side hustle!

Reason #2: Jumpstart Your Career

As a Let’s Detroit Campus Influencer, you’ll be tasked with creating content for the Let’s Detroit blog and social media accounts and facilitating an on-campus opportunity to promote Let’s Detroit, developing marketing, public relations, and event planning skills that you can utilize in your future career. Plus, the content you’ll create can be added to your professional portfolio.

Reason #3: Get Connected

As any professional knows, who you know matters. Let’s Detroit is a program within the Detroit Regional Chamber. Let’s Detroit Campus Influencers will have the opportunity to network with community organizations and partners, businesses, and Chamber and Let’s Detroit staff who actively want to help young professionals find their place in Southeast Michigan. This networking opportunity can be helpful in your job search process.

Reason #4: Be a Champion for the Region

There’s no denying the amount of pride Detroiters have for their city, even when it may be seen as an underdog to outsiders. As a Campus Influencer, you’ll have the opportunity to share your favorite restaurants, hidden gems, and what you love most about Detroit. Help shape the narrative around the Motor City.

Reason #5: Find Your Voice

Campus Influencers help promote Let’s Detroit and the Detroit Region among their peers on their college campuses. Position yourself as a leader on campus and use your voice to help your peers stay up to date on happenings in the Region. Plus, you’ll have fun creating a community on campus and getting to know your peers.
