Bosch is a leading global supplier of technology and services. While pursuing a vision of mobility that is sustainable, safe, and exciting, it offers innovative solutions for smart homes, Industry 4.0, and connected mobility.
Worldwide, Bosch employs a diverse team of approximately 400,000 people, with operations divided into four sectors: mobility solutions, industrial technology, consumer goods, and energy and building technology. Each sector consists of people passionate about turning their ideas into innovative technology and solutions and shaping change.
Let’s Detroit recently chatted with three of Bosch’s hiring managers to learn how it builds such strong, diverse teams. If you’re interested in working at the leading employer, keep reading to learn about its managers and what they look for when staffing their teams. This week, Derek Howard, Engineering Manager of Systems Integration, is being spotlighted.
Check back throughout the month for additional hiring manager features.
I am the Engineering Manager of the Systems Integration team for driver assistance functions.
I have worked at Bosch for 13 years. I started in the Rotational Development Program, where I had the opportunity to work with several teams on many different projects, all while having the support of an executive mentor. From there, I held a few different positions before taking on my current role in 2022.
I enjoy working on cutting-edge driver assistance and automated driving technology while working with an energetic and capable team.
My team leads vehicle integration of sensors (i.e., near-range cameras, ultrasonic sensors, radar, lidar, etc.) to implement automated driving functions and data collection for development.
I seek out candidates who have a technical background, are self-motivated, eager to learn, have good communication skills, and are team players who collaborate well with others. We have a strong team culture at Bosch, so we look for team-oriented individuals.
Bosch is composed of intelligent and passionate associates focused on developing and producing high-quality products to positively impact customers’ lives.
I would recommend researching Bosch to understand some of the many products the company produces and, of course, monitoring the job board to look for available internship, co-op, and full-time positions.
After relocating from North Carolina, I see metro Detroit as an amazing place for sports fans, foodies who enjoy trying new restaurants and cuisines, automotive and technology enthusiasts, and music and history buffs.
