Mackinac Future Leaders are forward-thinking professionals making an impact in their organization or community, showing future promise in leading initiatives. These individuals welcome change, view challenges as opportunities, and continue to influence everything they approach with fresh ideas and innovative thinking.

An eligible entrepreneur is a creative doer who has taken a non-traditional business idea from concept to the marketplace using innovative methods and practices. These entrepreneurs are relentless in pursuit of their entrepreneurial aspirations and have high-growth potential. In addition, these individuals provide a product/service that is closing a gap in an underserved market/community or helping to solve a societal/community problem.
Mackinac Future Leaders are awarded a partial registration scholarship to attend the Mackinac Policy Conference at the historic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The reduced registration rate of $850 is available only to first-time attendees. Future Leaders will have full access to all Conference sessions and activities. In addition, there will be private receptions with Conference speakers and exclusive networking opportunities.
In terms of accommodations, Future Leaders receive access to a reserved room block at a predetermined rate.
Mackinac Future Leaders are awarded to individuals based on merit and availability. Nominations and/or recommendations made by a Detroit Regional Chamber board member will be strongly considered. Individuals who have attended the Conference in the past are not eligible.
The nomination process is simple – in addition to basic information, you will be asked to describe why the nominee is deserving of the scholarship in 250 words or less. Self-nominations are welcome and accepted.
