At Per Scholas, we envision a future where individuals from any community can access well-paying tech careers, and where talent is recognized and recruited from many diverse sources. Over 11,000 graduates have launched successful careers in tech to date through our no-cost technical training. Our mission is to not only open doors to technology careers but to build the foundation for future sustainability and growth for our communities.
For the past year and a half, the Detroit Per Scholas office has trained over 100+ adult learners with the IT skills needed to enter a career in technology. Of those graduates, over 75% have landed IT-related jobs within six months of graduation working at companies such as TEKsystems, Little Caesars, IBM, Ford Motor Company, and others.
How does the program work?
We believe that much of our nation’s talent is hidden in plain sight. We work directly with employers, large and small, to design rigorous, boot camp-style courses with an 85% graduation rate. Our tuition-free, full-time training combines business professional skills development with hands-on technical instruction for high demand jobs. Due to COVID-19, all courses are offered online until further notice and individuals have access to laptop and technology rentals.
How can I apply?
Please apply on our website: https://perscholas.org/locations/detroit/. Regardless of the training track, individuals must be 18 years of age or older and have an HS diploma or GED equivalent. You do not need prior IT experience.
Spaces are limited and first come first serve, so apply soon! The date of the next course is November 16th. Currently, we have two different virtual, full-time training tracks:
Network Support (15 weeks, 9-5 pm, 40 hours a week):
As a Network Support graduate, you will earn the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification, equipped with the knowledge to fulfill a wide range of entry-level technology jobs such as Desktop Support, Desktop Technician and more.
End User Desktop Support (12 weeks, 9-5 pm, 40 hours a week):
As an EUDS graduate, you will earn the CompTIA A+ and certification, equipped with the knowledge to fulfill a wide range of entry-level technology jobs such as Deskside Support, Driver Technician and Infrastructure Management.
