Dog Friendly Places
Jenny Orletski-Dehne
I wish I could take my dog, Winnie, everywhere! Literally, everywhere! That’s my dream. So it’s been my mission since we brought her home to scope out all the places we can take her. We’ve even made Sunday “family day” where we take Winnie to new, exciting places or to do fun activities — like people with human children do — because face it, she is my child. I’ve ventured all over with Winnie — Detroit, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Birmingham, Rochester Hills, you name it. I know dog friendly places.
There’s so much to see, do, and experience, especially in this area. I don’t want to miss out on anything. And I want to bring Winnie with me! Nothings better than sharing a good drink or meal with your dog by your side.
1
River Rouge Brewing Company
River Rouge Brewing Company - East 4th Street, Royal Oak MI
By far my favorite spot to take Winnie! Summer, fall, winter -- it's great during any season with your furry friend. And did I mention the beer is AMAZING?!
2
Detroit Fleat
Detroit Fleat - East 9 Mile Road, Ferndale MI
The patio is super dog friendly! Grab a meal from one of their food trucks and a water bowl from their self serve stations and breath in the fresh air.
3
Woodpile BBQ Shack
Woodpile BBQ Shack - South Main Street, Clawson MI
Great spot for any season! They put up plastic walls around the patio so you can take your dog during any weather. And the BBQ is great! Your pup's nose will be sniffing the whole time!
4
The Brakeman
The Brakeman - John R Street, Detroit MI
The drinks are great, and Penny Reds, which is attached to the Brakeman, has the best fried chicken and biscuits.
5
Eastern Market Brewing Co
Eastern Market Brewing Co - Riopelle Street, Detroit MI
This is another great spot for any time of the year! They don't serve food, so they allow dogs! I like to head over here after walking around Eastern Market or the Dequindre Cut.
6
Motor City Gas Whiskey Distillery
Motor City Gas Whiskey Distillery - East 4th Street, Royal Oak MI
If you're a whiskey fan, then you have to try this dog friendly spot! And if you don't love whiskey, they'll still be able to make you a drink that'll leave you thinking otherwise. So bring your pup -- rain or shine or snow!
7
Luxe Bar & Grill
Luxe Bar & Grill - North Old Woodward Avenue, Birmingham MI
Great restaurant in downtown Birmingham that allows dogs on their patio. If you go, you have to try their burger!
8
M-Brew
M-Brew - Vester Avenue, Ferndale MI
Great patio and great slices of pizza!
9
Batch Brewing Company
Batch Brewing Company - Porter Street, Detroit MI
Calmer atmosphere, great beer, and lots of fun board games!
10
O'Connor's Public House
O'Connor's Public House - South Main Street, Rochester MI
Take your pup to Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills then head over to O'Connor's for a drink or bite to eat! You didn't hear it from me, but many people let their dogs off their leashes at the park...shhhh! Your dog will be on their best behavior (aka sleeping) by the time you head to O'Connor's.
