As the Director of Communications for Core Orchards, I am passionate about sharing all of the benefits agrihoods and community development has to offer the underserved communities on Detroit eastside. Being heavily involved in this restorative development project, I know that there is nothing else like this on the eastside of Detroit. Many cities are striving to have a community green space that promotes healthy eating and community involvement. Core Orchards has the potential to be this solution.
I love knowing that 5 years from now, a child on the eastside of Detroit could feel safe enough to WALK to our orchard with his/her family and friends. Growing up, my family and I would drive over an hour to The Big Red Apple to go apple picking. Now families in Detroit can do this in city limits.
