Grosse Pointe Communities

The Grosse Pointes are 5 cities on the shores of Lake St. Clair, with beautiful homes and walkable shopping districts on Kercheval.

Just East of Detroit are the five Grosse Pointe communities – Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Point Farms, and Grosse Point Shores. These historic cities have great views of Lake St. Clair, tree-lined streets, historic mansions, and walkable shopping districts. The Pointes have three charming business districts along Kercheval avenue, The Village, the Hill, and the Kercheval Business District. Many Grosse Pointe neighborhoods are within walking distance so residents have easy access to these restaurants, neighborhood bars, entertainment, and retail. They also host outdoor concerts, street festivals and parades throughout the year like West Park Winter Social and After 6 on Kercheval.

Grosse Pointe Park has a mix of housing, ranging from beautiful mansions to multi-family homes with affordable rents, making it ideal for young professionals.  College students can qualify for up to $350 a month in rent subsidies through the Grosse Point Housing Foundation, with over 750 young people participating in the program. “The Park” is the closest community to Detroit, bordering the city the the southeast, and is well connected to downtown via the SMART bus system and protected bike lanes on Jefferson Avenue.

Residents of the Pointes also have access to private waterfront parks with some of the best views of Lake St. Clair and amenities like swimming pools, skating rinks, marinas, dog parks, sports facilities, and more. Lake Front Park in Grosse Pointe Woods has the largest outdoor swimming facility in Michigan, and The Grosse Pointe Yacht Club was recently ranked one of the best in the country. A cruise up Lake Shore Drive will take you to the historic Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, that’s open to the public for tours.
