Grosse Pointe Communities
The Grosse Pointe Community consists of five cities on the shores of Lake St. Clair, with beautiful homes and walkable shopping districts on Kercheval.
Just east of Detroit are the five Grosse Pointe communities: Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Farms, and Grosse Pointe Shores. These cities have great views of Lake St. Clair, tree-lined streets, historic homes, and walkable shopping districts. In the area is the infamous Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, a sprawling estate with beautiful grounds and gardens on the shore of Lake St. Clair.
The Pointes offer many unique shopping and restaurant options, including The Village, a unique three-block retail district on Kercheval Avenue that is home to over 40 stores and businesses. Additional shopping can be found on Mack Avenue and on Fisher Road.
Grosse Pointe Park has a mix of housing, ranging from beautiful mansions to multi-family homes with affordable rents, making it ideal for young professionals. College students can qualify for up to $400 a month in rent subsidies through the Grosse Pointe Housing Foundation. “The Park” is the closest community to Detroit, bordering the city to the southeast, and is well connected to downtown via the SMART bus system and protected bike lanes on Jefferson Avenue.
Residents of the Pointes also have access to private waterfront parks with some of the best views of Lake St. Clair and amenities like swimming pools, skating rinks, marinas, dog parks, sports facilities, and more. Located along Lake Shore Drive, the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, which is consistently ranked as one of the best yacht clubs in the United States, offers an escape from the typical week, with boating, networking, events, activities, and a family atmosphere.
