Center Line is a small suburban community with a diverse community of local businesses and downtown redevelopment efforts underway.
Center Line is a small, close-knit community in Macomb County that has a low crime rate, affordable homes, large parks, great schools, and over 80 years of rich history. Center Line is mostly composed of neighborhoods, housing more than 8,300 residents, but the city has cool architectural elements that make it unique, such as the St. Clement Church which was built before 1854 and Kramer Homes Cooperative which was designed by famous architect Eero Saarinen. Center Line is also home to a diverse business community with 230 businesses and corporations supporting the community’s lifestyle. World headquarters for international companies Mopar, Whitlam Group, and Sodecia are based in Center Line, as well as long-time small businesses like Vern Haney’s restaurant and Dealer’s Discount Crafts.
In the last several years, community leaders have undertaken a redevelopment effort around Center Line’s downtown and surrounding areas. Plans include urban forestry and green infrastructure programs, the creation of a walkable downtown with more shops, restaurants and community events. The city even has an established Center Line Festival Foundation, which helps plan the city’s annual Beer Fest, Crusin’ 53 car show, Halloween Town, and softball tournament.
