Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan, a top-ranked public university that draws students from all over. Catch a football game at Michigan Stadium, also lovingly known as “The Big House,” to cheer on the Wolverines and be sure to check out the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA), which is one of the finest university art museums in the country.

Downtown Ann Arbor boasts Main Street, where you’ll discover diverse restaurants, bars of all sorts, and fun, eclectic shops. Grab a bite to eat at the favorite gourmet sandwich shop, Zingerman’s Deli, which serves up bagels, sandwiches, pickles, and artisanal cheese. Tasty eats also include Miss Kim, Spencer, and Tomukun Noodle Bar.

If nightlife is your thing, go dancing at Necto Nightclub, hit up 8 Ball dive bar, or get a classic cocktail at Nightcap.

There’s something for everyone in this eclectic town. The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is home to dynamic exhibits for children and those young at heart. Music lovers are in for a treat with a bustling music scene. Check out the Kerrytown Concert House for great acts, listen to live music at The Ark, or enjoy classical music at the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. The Michigan Theater, a movie palace near the Central Campus of the University of Michigan, hosts films, stage performances, and music concerts.

In the summer, the annual Art Fair showcases over 1,000 artists—making it the largest juried art fair in the nation.

Living Here

Ann Arbor lies at the center of Washtenaw County and is near Ypsilanti, Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Milan, and Saline. Besides its bustling downtown, the city is a great spot for outdoor recreation, with beautiful rural areas and many parks in the area. The Huron River runs through the city and is a popular spot for tubing and kayaking. Pinckney Recreation Area and Huron River Metropark are great spots for hiking and disc golf.
