My story
I, Mario Swaidan, am a Commercial Drone Pilot and the founder of Drone Capital, a Commercial Drone Pilot Marketplace making it easier to book Commercial Drone Pilots. I was the first person to pass the FAA’s Commercial Drone Pilot’s License 14 CFR Part 107 Exam at the Michigan Institute of Aviation Technology in 2016, and have been flying for pay since. My startup, Drone Capital, is partnered with Michigan State University through the Conquer Accelerator, and I most recently completed the Apple Developer Academy Foundation Program in Detroit this past week.
I am hosting the Michigan’s Natural Landscapes Gallery Exhibition, showcasing canvas art prints of Michigan’s natural landscapes, at museums across the state of Michigan including: Impression 5 Science Center, Lansing Art Gallery, Grand Rapids Public Museum, Ann Arbor Hands on Museum, AirZoo Aerospace & Science Museum, and the Michigan Science Center. I have received the direct support of the University of Michigan Law School, Mackinac Island State Historic Parks, Michigan Museum Association, the State of Michigan’s official brand Pure Michigan, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation in putting on this event series. My goal is to help Michiganders rediscover the natural beauty of Michigan.
Finally, in partnership with the Michigan Science Center, rated second best science museum in the US by USA Today, Drone Capital is hosting the Detroit Drone Film Festival, an award show honoring Commercial Drone Pilots, at the Michigan Science Center. The event will include an award show providing Commercial Drone Pilots with awards for various categories, and the award show will be preceded by a gallery exhibition including printed aerial photography from around the globe. The goal of this event is to honor Commercial Drone Pilots with a prestigious award and to build on Michigan’s heritage of being the engine of innovation in the country.
What I love most about living in Southeast Michigan
What I love most about working in Southeast Michigan
I love the juxtaposition southeast Michigan has between the city of Detroit, and its natural landscapes interspersed with suburbia. I work with real estate agents mostly, because they have a need for photography, especially aerial photography in commercial, land, and premium residential real estate listings. Capturing these images gives me an opportunity to appreciate Michigan’s natural landscapes.
