Alison Beatty
My story

As the University Program Director at the University of Michigan, I serve as a ready and accessible point of contact between Department of Defense mission partners and the students and researchers at U-M. I seek to build connections between academic institutions, entrepreneurs, startups, the Michigan defense industry, and the DoD to generate novel solutions for broad national security challenges.

how I got started

I wanted to put my public policy skills to use in anything related to aviation, space, aerospace, or defense. This led to me joining the incredible team at Ann Arbor SPARK and then the National Security Innovation Network. I love that my job is to connect brilliant people in Michigan to opportunities to protect and defend the United States!

What I love most about working in Southeast Michigan

I love that the people, researchers, and companies in Michigan are consistently revealed to be some of the most brilliant people in the world, competing and succeeding at the highest levels. Yet we are very close to our rural roots and are surrounded by nature’s beauty and plenty of ways to have fun!
