My story

My upbringing in Detroit, Michigan has influenced and inspired me in a plethora of ways! The city is a place filled with a lot of love, culture, and upcoming talent as well as many opportunities. Attending preparatory schools and being a part of programs such as TRIO, SMASH Wayne State, Etc. Has allowed me to build a network and experiences with college prep readiness which assisted with my decision to attend Michigan State University.

My major

I’m currently studying Human Development & Family Studies with a minor in Human Behavior and Social Services in the College of Social Sciences! I selected this focus due to the fact that I love helping people and from courses in HDFS and prior curriculum from my previous major in Child Development allowed me to gain insight on the wide range opportunities provided from HDFS. Through my 2 years at state thus far, I have been able to serve as a catalyst through my work on executive boards in a few upcoming student organizations, such as, Sistas That Care & Black Girls In Social Sciences, which are directed towards women of color at MSU.

What I love most about Southeast Michigan

Growing up and living in the Downtown areas of Detroit have allowed me to gain an unique experience. Over the years, I have been able to watch the growth of our inner city with the emergence of new restaurants, shopping centers, and family friendly spaces. I love the culture and spaces in which many are able to enjoy with the change of seasons in gatherings and creating memories and traditions within their communities.
