Detroit Core Detroit is back with its 12th annual Detroit Month of Design festival this September and is hosting an open call until Sunday, April 24, for designers, brands, and organizations that want to host independent events, brand activations, and competitions, and sponsor the month-long event.
Taking place throughout the city of Detroit and online, the festival features a combination of virtual, outdoor, and indoor experiences. According to the DMD website, key program elements will include a mix of Design Core, sponsor, and independently produced events that range from exhibitions, installations, product launches, lectures, panel discussions, tours, workshops, and more.
Applications to participate are open to the public, including regional, national, and international designers, brands, and organizations; however, Detroit talent is emphasized. Each application will be reviewed by a diverse curatorial committee and selected based on creativity, story, collaboration, feasibility, social impact, and inclusive design.
There is no fee to apply, but there is a $50 participation fee required if accepted. This supports the costs of the festival and promoting each event.
