Dance Parties
Sara Aldridge
I’ve been DJing and coordinating events for over 10 years in Detroit and, as half of the DJ dance duo Nothing Elegant, I am continually keeping my finger on the pulse of what’s happened in Detroit when the sun goes down.
Detroit has so many amazing options for dancing and after hours fun. As a city with a rich history of music, you can find anything from a hip-hop show to awesome techno DJs on almost any given night of the week.
1
The Old Miami
The Old Miami - Cass Avenue, Detroit MI
Old Miami has a rich history in the city. What once used to be a veteran bar, is now one of the city’s most beloved music venues and dive bars. They have one of the best backyards/patios in town, pinball, pool tables and an incredibly diverse crowd of customers.
2
Temple Bar
Temple Bar - Cass Avenue, Detroit MI
This gay-friendly bar hosts some of the most fun monthly DJ nights. Without a doubt, you can find a great dance party here every weekend. Also: cheap drinks and adorable staff.
3
Marble Bar
Marble Bar - Holden Street, Detroit MI
Beautifully restored bar with awesome selection of cocktails, beer and wine. Nice closed in patio for the warmer months and an awesome selection of bands and DJs throughout the week.

MotorCity Wine
MotorCity Wine - Michigan Avenue, Detroit MI
Hands down the best place to check out house and techno music in the city. This cozy wine bar in Corktown is a must for anyone who wants to dance and enjoy a great glass of wine. In addition, the patio is the go to spot in the summer and the staff is helpful and never pretentious when it comes to talking wine or music.
5
T V Lounge
T V Lounge - Grand River Avenue, Detroit MI
If house music is your thing, TV is a must. Booking some of the most important and influential DJs in house music like Carl Craig, Moodyman and Derrick May, you will undoubtedly find yourself getting sweaty on the dance floor here with enjoying sets both inside and outside on their expansive patio.
