Meet Abbey Trbovich, a graduate from Michigan State University with a degree in Marketing. Trbovich is a Marketing Coordinator at Magna Seating. Read more about her background, current position, why she loves working at Magna, and how the culture at Magna enables her to enjoy her passions outside of work.

1. Introduce yourself!

My name is Abbey Trbovich. I graduated from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business with a degree in Marketing and now I am a Marketing Coordinator at Magna Seating.

2. What is your current role at Magna?

I am currently a Marketing Coordinator at Magna Seating. Prior to this role, I was a Talent Attraction Intern on the Magna Corporate team for about a year and a half. What attracted me to work at Magna was the culture. I have a couple of family friends that have worked at Magna for many years, and they all have nothing but great things to say about the culture, the people and the values those people hold.

3. What are some of the opportunities you’ve had at Magna?

I have had the opportunity to attend CES in Las Vegas, TedX Detroit, and work on a handful of unique projects involving different Magna teams. I always think it’s really cool to be a part of a global team, and I hope one day I can meet my colleagues from other parts of the world.

4. What does a typical day look like?

Every day is different, but most days in the office are spent in meetings, working collaboratively and independently on projects, and preparing and managing our Innovation Gallery for meetings and events – to name a few of my everyday tasks. My favorite types of days are the ones that involve seeing all my Marketing and Communications colleagues from the other Magna groups.

5. How would you describe the company culture at Magna?

The company culture at Magna is very collaborative and it feels like everyone truly wants you to have a good working experience. Both teams I have been a part of at Magna have wanted me to learn, experience, and work on things that I am interested in, which is something I really appreciate.

6. Why should young talent explore careers at Magna?

Young talent should explore careers at Magna because it is truly a great place to work. Looking back on my internship and still being early in my career, I can confidently say that I feel valued and appreciated, regardless of how much experience I have. I also have felt like my projects have made an impact on our group at Magna, which is rewarding. Lastly, it is especially cool to work in the automotive industry while living just outside of the Motor City.

7. What advice would you give young talent searching for careers in the Detroit Region today?

The biggest piece of advice I would give young talent searching for careers in Detroit would be to say yes to opportunities because you never know what might come of them. Also – network!

8. What advice would you give your younger self? Or what advice do you wish someone would have given you when you were starting out in your career?

I would tell myself to not stress about the little things and that everything always works out the way it should. I would also tell myself it is okay to not have all the answers and it is certainly ok to ask for help.

9. What do you like to do outside of work? How does your job or location in the Region enable you to pursue this passion or activity?

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family. My job and work-life balance enables me to do all the things I enjoy – which I do not take for granted.

10. Are you from Detroit? If not, why did you choose to locate here? If you are a Detroit native, why did you choose to stay?

I have always lived in Metro Detroit 😊
