As summer approaches, June presents a perfect opportunity to give back to your community and make a positive impact through volunteering. Whether you have a few hours or several days to spare during the summer months, numerous organizations across metro Detroit are seeking passionate individuals to help. Give Blood During the Red Cross Blood Drive
Monday, June 17 from 12 to 6 p.m.
On June 17, donate blood to those in need at the Gerald R. Ford Library. The Red Cross recommends scheduling an appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome. When donating, be sure to bring a photo ID.

Volunteer with People for Palmers Park for Log Cabin Day
Sunday, June 23 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Log Cabin Day is a cherished, free family-friendly festival organized annually by People for Palmer Park. To ensure the success of this year’s event, they need your help. Volunteers can choose to work a two- to three-hour shift, half-day, or full-day. Opportunities include a range of roles such as setup, cleanup, serving ice cream, and greeting attendees, among many others.

Volunteer with Lafayette Greens Garden
Thursday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Join The Greening of Detroit and other volunteers at Lafayette Greens Garden and help with various tasks in the garden. Reserve your spot as soon as possible, events are limited to 15 volunteers. Unable to attend in June? Additional volunteer opportunities are available throughout the summer.

Volunteer with Forgotten Harvest at the Oak Park Warehouse
Various opportunities are available in June from 1 to 4 p.m.
Forgotten Harvest is seeking volunteers to help pack boxes, repack food, and sort it for distribution throughout Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.

KickstART Gallery & Artisan Shop is looking for friendly art enthusiasts to volunteer at the shop in downtown Farmington. Volunteers will have the chance to enjoy the artwork while supporting and engaging with the community. Volunteers typically work two-hour shifts. Retail experience and basic computer skills are beneficial.
