EcoG, an electric vehicle charging infrastructure technology company, has inaugurated its U.S. headquarters at Newlab on the campus of Michigan Central in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood.
The move marks a milestone in the company’s expansion and commitment to accelerating the adoption of sustainable transportation technologies across the United States, according to company officials.
The EcoG leadership team including Chief Executive Officer Joerg Heuer, Chief Technology Officer Johannes Hund, and U.S. Managing Director Robert Skinner joined representatives from the state of Michigan and the city of Detroit at the recent ribbon cutting ceremony.
The event also showcased EcoG’s role as an ecosystem enabler that catalyzes the charging infrastructure by bringing together technology and partners at one table.
The opening of the new headquarters in Detroit coincides with a $14.4 million investment by EcoG into the local area and is supported by a $1.5 million grant from the Michigan Business Development Program, underscoring the state’s efforts to attract and retain pioneering companies in the mobility sector.
“I am thrilled to join EcoG for the grand opening of their U.S. headquarters right here in Detroit, the city that drives the nation forward in automotive innovation,” Whitmer says. “EcoG’s presence in Michigan is a powerful testament to our state’s commitment to building the future of cars, batteries, and charging.
EcoG’s Skinner says, “It’s so encouraging to see this collaboration between the state of Michigan and EcoG bear fruit in this new and exciting HQ here at Michigan Central. The local ecosystem here in Detroit is really booming, and there is so much potential to build on the momentum we’ve already gathered. I’m looking forward to working with more talented partners and customers in the state during this year and beyond.”
Heuer delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the company’s vision for a cleaner, more sustainable transportation ecosystem.
“Today is not just a celebration of EcoG’s growth, but a reaffirmation of our dedication to enabling a greener future,” says Heuer. “With the support of the Michigan Business Development Program and our collaboration with local partners, EcoG is poised to drive further innovation and deliver advanced EV charging solutions from our new home in Detroit.”
The ribbon-cutting event was followed by guided tours of the new facilities, which will serve as both a headquarters for the company in the US and a hub for EV innovation in the city.
EcoG creates the universal core operating system for fast charging stations worldwide.
EcoG’s new office is located in the Book Depository Building adjacent to Ford’s Michigan Central Innovation District, further cementing the area’s reputation as a center for mobility innovation.
