The Detroit Region has a rich history of influential women who have made an impact in various fields, from politics to art. This makes it a great place to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of women throughout history during Women’s History Month every March. From learning about women’s rights to supporting local women-owned businesses, there are plenty of events and opportunities in the Detroit area to honor and empower women.
Here are some highlights of upcoming events that you don’t want to miss:
International Women’s Day Shopping Experience
March 8, 5-10 p.m.
The Norwood
Spend an evening celebrating women-owned businesses and networking. Browse through a wide range of products and services offered by diverse women entrepreneurs and businesses, featuring luxury, wellness, and beauty brands. All guests will also receive a free professional headshot by photographer Dele Nguyen. Event tickets are $5, and all proceeds will go towards a small business grant for a vendor at the shopping experience.
International Women’s Day Lunch
March 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The War Memorial, Grosse Point
Join the Detroit Regional Chamber and Wellness Works, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, for a lunch celebrating personal wellness. Attendees will hear from a panel of leading businesswomen about their career journeys, plus enjoy unique wellness experiences, such as an affirmation station, seven-point “fincheck,” build-your-own bouquet station, and more. The price for Chamber members is $125 and non-members is $200.
Trivia Thursday: Women’s History Month
March 21, 4-5 p.m.
Detroit Public Library, Main Branch
Bring a team of four people to the Main Branch of the Detroit Public Library to compete in trivia, where the themed factoids surround women who make history, past and present, women’s rights, and girl power. Registration is free but required.
EntrepreneuHERs Brunch
March 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wayne State University’s Industry Innovation Center
Join Black Leaders Detroit for its first annual brunch to honor Women’s History Month. The event serves as the launching of BLD’s “Women for BLD” campaign, a platform designed to amplify women’s voices, share power, and provide unrestricted capital to three women-led Black-owned businesses. The price to attend is $40.
Celebrate Women’s History Month With the Henry Ford Museum
