My story
I’m from Detroit and grew up on the east side after being born on the West. I love reading, journaling, and exploring my city. Michigan State University has been my dream school since I was little. Being from Michigan, it just felt right to attend such a great college where I feel at home. Now, as a sophomore and the first in my family to go to college, I’m eager to learn and grow.
My major
Passionate about youth counseling, I’m pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My aim is to focus on inner-city Detroit children, striving to impact them positively. Currently, I’m involved in three campus e-boards promoting mental health and unity among African American students. Additionally, I’m part of Detroit M.A.D.E., a program fostering personal and academic excellence through various activities like workshops, service-learning, and research opportunities dedicated to students from Detroit and southeast Michigan.
What I love most about Southeast Michigan
As a lifelong resident of Detroit, I cherish our city’s fearless spirit in driving change and amplifying our voices. Despite stereotypes, we’re fueled by love, generosity, and unity. Our vibrant food scene mirrors our diverse community, fostering connections over shared meals. Through adversity, Detroiters showcase resilience, demonstrating that our strength lies in our ability to uplift and support one another.
