My story
My name is Kennedy D. Walters, a westside Detroit native and soon-to-be Michigan State University alum. The source of my story begins in Midtown Detroit as I attended University Prep Academy Elementary (Mark Murray Campus) and Henry Ford Academy: School For Creative Studies, which is now known as University Prep Academy: Art & Design for both middle and high school.
As a creative individual, art has always been a focus in my life especially as the city of Detroit thrives off of an ample amount of talent and is considered a melting pot of creatives. My artistic abilities led me to establish my art business, Fluid Kreations, LLC in 2019. Fluid Kreations is currently being revamped for a different direction rooted in art education for youth.
As for education, writing has always been a joy, and it led me to Michigan State University as a journalism major, but of course, my enjoyment of ethical values and practices in health care led me to a minor in bioethics. On campus, I’m an avid student leader as I’m currently the vice president for the African American Celebratory and was previously involved with the Black Students’ Alliance as a member at large (2019), OCAT liaison (2020), and communications director (2020-21) and a peer mentor for M.A.G.I.C, (Summer 2020 and 2021). My story is still being written, and I aspire to come back to Detroit and contribute to a staple creative city.
What I love most about living in Southeast Michigan
What I love most about working in Southeast Michigan
I’m a proud Detroit native! Raised on the westside, I can say I love my city because of the community that is there especially my generation of entrepreneurs and the usage of social media. I feel like although one day I will leave Detroit for a while to explore myself, Detroit is a great place to start my career because it’s home.
