Pay it Forward: Power a Business & Feed the Homeless

Let's Detroit

COVID-19 has put a strain on all of us but members of Detroit’s most vulnerable community and local restaurants may be feeling it even more: Michigan restaurants lost $491M in sales and 72,000 jobs due to coronavirus, forcing many local restaurants to close their doors. Additionally, the Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) had to transfer nearly 100 homeless residents to a new shelter that allows for greater social distancing but lacks an operating kitchen.

The Pay it Forward campaign was started to support minority-owned businesses from across the city to provide catered dinners for about 100 residents. By paying your meal forward, you’re buying NSO’s homeless population a much-needed, top-notch meal, and helping some of Detroit’s favorite restaurants stay open and pay staff. The goal is to raise enough money to cater meals for those in need throughout the worst of the COVID-19 crisis. Each time $5,000 is raised, it unlocks another week of meals!
