Intramural Sports Leagues
Matthew Langston
Born and raised in Detroit, I started playing for Detroit Hoops League (DHL) after moving back to Detroit from Chicago after completing a clerkship. Four years later, I now have the privilege of running the entire intramural operation with Darren Riley, my DHL Co-Owner and one of my best friends who I met through the league. We were given the opportunity to strengthen a community of people who love basketball and and help bring opportunity for new and old Detroit to come together, something that is often missing in the city’s redevelopment.
What I love about our league, and sports overall, is the sense of community it creates — the way that competition is a great equalizer for everyone; the way life’s normal stressors become moot once the tip-off happens. Also, I love watching people get dunked on.

Detroit Hoops League plays at Detroit Cristo Rey High School in Southwest Detroit. It's a great venue for our league, and there are a to of taco places to eat after the game.

Come Play Detroit
Belle Isle - Detroit, MI USA
Come Play Detroit hosts a ton of leagues, from soccer to softball to bowling. They play all over depending on the season and sport, but Belle Isle is the usual location for spring and summer games.

Detroit City Football League
Detroit City Clubhouse - East Lafayette Street, Detroit MI
Detroit City Football League is neighborhood-based soccer teams from around the city. For the outdoor season they usually play at Fort Wayne and they recently opened their clubhouse for indoor soccer, food, drinks and more.

Ann Arbor YMCA - West Washington Street, Ann Arbor MI
The Ann Arbor YMCA, as well as most YMCAs across the region, host adult sports leagues and open gym hours throughout the year.
