November 20, 2019 at 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Please Join Us!
We’re calling on designers to attend a special social mixer to meet with a select group of nonprofit organizations who are seeking design partners for our newest design competition, Nonprofits in Action: The 2020 Design Showcase!
The invited nonprofits are affecting positive social change in our community – and their work will be featured next year in two original design installations to be displayed in the historic showcase windows at Co.act Detroit.
Call for Designers: ‘Nonprofits in Action: the 2020 Design Showcase’
We recognize that nonprofit organizations are oftentimes unable to invest in telling their own stories. Through this unique competition, we are seeking Southeast Michigan designers who value collaboration and would like to explore design as a vehicle for communicating the social impact of local nonprofit’s work. Each competing team will pair a nonprofit organization with a designer/team to create a one-of-a-kind installation in Co.act Detroit’s historic showcase windows on Woodward Avenue.
Please Join Us for Special Social Mixer at Co.act Detroit
As a first step to the competition, we’re inviting designers to join us at Co.act for a special social mixer to meet members of five nonprofit organizations who have been selected as finalists for participating in the design competition. After the mixer, you will have the opportunity to choose the nonprofit partner whose story you would like to feature through an original design installation. Please note that your attendance is required to receive more information about how to submit the design brief. Light refreshments will be served.
Who is Eligible to Compete and Win?
In advance of the social mixer, participating nonprofit teams will be selected by representatives from Detroit’s nonprofit community, service provider network, and local design experts. All designers and nonprofits based in Southeast Michigan are eligible. Participating designers will be asked to submit portfolio samples and inspiration ideas for featuring one of the nonprofit’s work.
Designers chosen to enter the competition round will be selected by a representative, cross-disciplinary review team. The competition will end with the selection of two winning teams – each comprised of a designer and a nonprofit organization – whose installations will be showcased at Coact. Detroit in 2020. Winning designers will receive a $5,000 stipend to bring their vision to life.
Please sign up! RSVPs are limited.
