Names Unspoken: Unsung Heroes of the Civil Rights Movement

Many who know about the Civil Rights Movement know about Martin Luther King, Jr. but few know the other influential leaders who helped shape the movement. Learn these untold stories during Names Unspoken: Unsung Heroes of the Civil Rights Movement, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 21st at 6:00 p.m.

Educator & historian Jamon Jordan will share stories of important but lesser known activists like Bayard Rustin, who organized the March on Washington, Fannie Lou Hamer, who not only was a singer of Christian hymns, but one of the mosrt effective organizers for voting rights, and Ella Baker, the veteran activist who helped develop King’s SCLC and SNCC. These men and women are just some of the names we no longer know.

The lecture/presentation begins at 6pm.
