A few weeks ago, I visited the Detroit Vineyards to attend a networking event. I’d done some research before the event to learn what made the Vineyards a unique venue in Detroit, but until visiting I didn’t fully grasp how integrated the Vineyards were in the city.
Speaking to a bartender, he told me that all their wine was made from Detroit-grown grapes. But when I look at Detroit, I don’t think “agriculture stronghold,” so struggling to imagine for myself, I asked him where in Detroit they could grow grapes? He said community members often loan plots of their own private land to the Vineyards to grow their grapes. This is precisely what I love about Detroit: Everyone chips in to help the community thrive.
Speaking of the space more generally, it would make the perfect location for a first date, a night out with girlfriends, or a happy hour with coworkers. The space is flexible enough to serve multiple purposes and still make everyone feel right at home. Additionally, it’s proximity to the Whiskey Factory and Eastern Market mean that there are plenty of other activities to explore in the area!
If you’re ever in Detroit and looking for a casual meet-up space, list Detroit Vineyards amongst your top picks.
