Detroit Month of Design 2021: What You Should Know

Every September, creative partners across the city of Detroit come together to show off their latest artworks and ideas during Detroit Month of Design. This month-long event is a citywide celebration of creativity that gathers designers and the community to celebrate the city’s role as a national and global design capital. Developed by Design Core, a department within the College for Creative Studies, Detroit Month of Design is back for its 11th year, with events and experiences that attendees can enjoy outside, indoors, or from the comfort of their homes, Sept. 1-30.

Detroit Month of Design Schedule

Events for the month include design experiences, exhibitions, installations, open studios, talks, tours, workshops, and youth and family-friendly opportunities. Some events last the entire month, while others may only last a day. Find events that fit your schedule and preference by filtering the online schedule. You can also explore a selection of virtual events and experiences that took place during Detroit Month of Design 2020 on demand.

What’s New in 2021?

New to this year’s Detroit Month of Design is Design Core’s partnership with MoGo, a bike-sharing company in Detroit. MoGo operates in 10 neighborhoods in Downtown Detroit and Northwest Detroit, Ferndale, Oak Park, Huntington Woods, Berkley, and Royal Oak. To help people attend Month of Design events, MoGo is offering 25% off their $20 monthly pass. The pass includes an unlimited number of 60-minute trips for 30 days. For trips that extend beyond 60 minutes, users pay $0.25 for each additional minute. To redeem the offer, download the Transit app and use the discount code MOD2021 at check out.
