The Deadline to apply for the Challenge Detroit fellowship program has been extended due to the evolving situation around COVID-19.
Challenge Detroit is a year-long fellowship program that brings together early career professionals from Detroit and across the country to develop their leadership skills and work on projects making an impact in the City of Detroit. They are looking for diverse candidates with a variety of skills and professional backgrounds, candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the program in September.
The fellowship is set up so that challenge fellows work Monday-Thursday on a normal 9:00-5:00 schedule with one of the several host companies. Host companies include a range of large and small businesses in Detroit and around the region, and you can get a sense of the options by learning about the current cohort of fellows to see who they’re working for this year.
On Fridays, fellows meet at Techtown Detroit to work on collaborative projects with non-profit organizations that work in the City of Detroit. These are typically 6-week projects where the cohort is broken up into teams to help the organization come up with innovative solutions to some of their needs. Throughout these projects, fellows build new professional relationships, gain valuable leadership and teamwork skills, and engage in the human-centered design process to help solve pressing issues in Detroit. This year, fellows have worked with some very exciting partners, which you can find out more about here.
In between projects, fellows also participate in leadership programming, volunteer work, and cultural activities throughout the city. The fellowship is a great way to get to make new friends, develop as a professional, and make an impact in the city of Detroit.
